Tomorrow is the final day of filming. So much has happened in my personal life and with this project. Life Beyond Our Eyes, my film opening was born October 22, 2024, and just like any first child, it came with a few challenges. I went through four complete idea changes before landing on the perfect concept. There were mistakes, late nights, hours of research, and moments where I genuinely questioned if I could pull it off. But what kept me going through it all was the passion I had for the story I wanted to tell.

It’s been a risky, emotional, and honestly exhausting journey. I’ve been racing against time to finish everything, but I know it’ll be worth it once I see all the pieces come together.

But enough about that, let me take you back to the very first day I started photographing and editing.

After a full week of rain and grey skies, I woke up to sunlight pouring in through my skylights, one above my bed and the other in my bathroom. That moment felt like a sign. I got up quickly and spent about 40 min in the bathroom trying to photograph my eye, blinding myself in the process. I used Halide, an app that boosts and supports the iPhone camera’s capabilities.

Below is a screenshot and screen recording of how I set it up:

The next big challenge was creating a custom kaleidoscope effect in DaVinci Resolve, using the Fusion page. I followed a youtube tutorial and experimented with different tools until I got something that looked decent. At first, I liked it, but after staring at it for days. I started to feel underwhelmed. It didn’t have the magic I was hoping for. I decided to work with what I had for the time being, until I could find an alternative.
