How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Below is a written version of the voice over:

Today I will be talking about engagement and distribution in my film opening. I have prepared a few questions to answer.

Q. Who is the intended audience for your film opening, and how did you design it to appeal to them?

A. The intended audience for this film opening is young adults or creative individuals, who are interested in visually engaging content with a deeper, symbolic narrative. The kaleidoscope effect and eye focused visual appeal to those who are drawn to experimental films. I designed this to grab the audience’s attention quickly with seamless transitions and intricate eyes, making them curious about the message behind the visuals.

Q. How do the visual and technical elements of the eye montage engage the audience?

A. The eye montage is central to the film’s engaging visuals. By first focusing on the eyes, the film automatically connects with human perception. The transitions from each iris to a kaleidoscope image of similar colors serve a metaphor for how we view and interpret the world differently, emphasizing the idea of “Life Beyond Our Eyes”, what we see and what we might not be aware of. The fluidity of the transitions and the kaleidoscopic effect create a hypnotic visual experience, keeping the audience visually captivated while inviting them to explore the deeper meaning.

Q. What thematic elements does the eye montage explore, and how do they contribute to the overall message of the film opening?

A. The eye montage explores themes of perception, insight and the unseen. Eyes are often considered the windows to the soul, and by transitioning from the eye into colourful kaleidoscope patterns, I am implying “the beyond what we see”, there are infinite perspectives and layers to life, this is what the title, “Life Beyond Our Eyes”, embodies. The kaleidoscope effects symbolises the complexity of life and the hidden layers of meaning that are hidden beneath the surface. While the underwater and ocean view (shot in POV) scenes, express one of those hidden qualities that can overtake a person's life.

Q. If your film opening were part of a real media text, how would it be distributed to reach the right audience?

A. I think that for distribution my film would work best on online platforms. I would first distribute the film opening across social media platforms, such as Instagram, Reels, TikTok and YouTube, which favor quick content. These platforms would allow the opening to capture the attention of a younger, creative audience who are drawn to abstract storytelling. The kaleidoscopic nature of the montage would appeal to users browsing through aesthetic and visually unique content on these platforms.

What strategies would you use to promote your film opening and expand its reach?

I’d promote the film opening through short teasers showing snippets of the eye transition, combined with behind the scenes content about how the effect was achieved. Sharing this on instagram and tiktok with relevant hashtag such as #VisualArt #FilmOpening #kaleidoscopeEffect could help attract a niche audience that enjoys experimental filmmaking. I’d also reach out to artistic film communities online and share the opening with creators who appreciate abstract media, which possibly can lead to a collaboration, this will expand the audience I have to an even larger number.
