Sound was quite challenging as a beginner, but also one of the most rewarding parts of the project. I chose the instrumental song A Message to My Future Self because I liked its slow buildup and its uplifting yet calm flow.

For the underwater scene, I searched the internet for muffled yelling and found a clip of a woman yelling underwater, her audio worked perfectly. To enhance it, I layered in underwater sound. I slightly lowered the volume of the yelling so it wouldn't overpower the scene.

The next scene was the most creative part. I experimented in the Fairlight page in DaVinci Resolve, layering underwater sounds, waves, and birds chirping. I applied several audio effects: reverb, distortion, pitch, and delay, and adjusted the levels so the waves and underwater sounds stood out more than the birds. I wouldn't be able to give a proper tutorial for this part because I experimented until it felt right.

At this point, I had three separate video segments: the eye montage the underwater scene, and the ocean POV. I used a cross dissolve transition between each one to create a smooth flow. For the ocean POV, I added a camera shake and slight blur during the muffled audio to reflect the overwhelming feeling of that moment. As the sound gradually faded, a child's voice replaced it.

For the title, I used Title+, a customisable tool in DaVinci Resolve, and applied the Flying Flag effect so the text would move along with the water. I added a cross dissolve transition to make the title gently fade away into the ocean.

Below are attachments of each scene segment:
