In this post you will be introduced to my first pride and joy, the Video Recreation. It was a 2 week journey of learning new things, many headaches, 10 cups of tea and commitment. From planning the scenes to fine-tuning every detail, or even deleting scenes and having to start that scene all over again.
The final product is a cohesive, visually compelling video made up of four distinct scenes:
The Opening Scene: A warm, inviting introduction sets the tone with neutral and autumnal colours.
The Tea Scene: A cozy moment framed by soft natural light and a simplified background to represent the simplicity and relaxation after the first scene which is of me "working".
The Bible scene: the closing of glided bible adds a personal and thematic touch.
The Shoelace Scene: The grand finale ties everything together, literally, with a masking transition of me walking away, revealing the first scene to create a loop.
Each transition seamlessly blends one scene into the next, carrying forward the mood of the original TikTok video while adding my personal touch.
The Final Product:
Reflection
The journey to creating this 10 second video was far from straightforward. When I first started exploring DaVinci Resolve, I quickly realised how challenging it was to find the exact tutorial for the masking transition I had in mind. After hours of searching and experimenting, I was lucky enough on the second day to stumble upon a YouTube tutorial that broke down the process in a simple way for beginners.
But even with the right guidance, bringing this transition to life was a meticulous process. It demanded a level of patience and attention to detail I hadn't expected. The smallest adjustments made a huge difference, I especially spent a long time on the opening scene, refining each angle. What shocked me the most was the amount of time and effort it took to create something so short. After all the labor, I expected a video to be at least a minute long, but in the end, it was just 10 seconds!
Those 10 seconds mean much more than what you can see. It holds countless learning moments, a creative side of me was unlocked, and the satisfaction of seeing an idea come to life. This experience taught me how much patience and persistence video editing requires, even for projects that seem simple.
I'm thrilled to share the final product with you.
On Christmas Eve I will leave a small gift underneath this section of my blog, which I hope you will enjoy as much I will making it. Another transition video awaits...
